Chromebook

Thrall ISD is also offering the Device Protection Plan (DPP), an optional Chromebook “insurance” program, the district makes available to protect families from costly repairs related to accidental damage or theft of the Chromebook through Thrall ISD, and all 3rd-12th grade students’ parents are highly encouraged to purchase this DPP for the Chromebook. Intentional or negligent damage is not covered under the Device Protection Plan. There is an enrollment fee of $20 to participate and can be paid through MySchoolBucks under the Technology category. If the DPP is not purchased for the Chromebook, the parent is responsible for all repair/replacement costs of the Chromebook whether damage/loss occurs at school or elsewhere.

Thrall ISD is excited to provide individually assigned student Chromebooks for 3rd-12th grade students and shared Chromebooks for Kindergarten-2nd grade classrooms for the integration of technology in the curriculum and the classroom. PreKindergarten students will have iPads in their classrooms.

Chromebooks were distributed to the individual 3rd-12th grade students during the first few weeks of school. Chromebooks will already be in place in the Kindergarten-2nd grade classrooms in the first week of school.

Students are required to bring their fully charged Chromebook to class every day. High School students are expected to take their Chromebook home at night for completion of assignments, enrichment activities and recharging.

All Middle School students and 3rd-4th grade students will return their assigned Chromebooks to their assigned cart slot on their campus for recharging each night. Chromebooks will not be taken home by Middle School students or 3rd-4th grade students in this 2023-24 school year.

Please contact Mrs. Susan Burkhart, Director of Technology, with any questions.
