high school news

Thrall High School will host the Shattered Dreams Program on Thursday, May 2 for all high school students, their families and friends, our Thrall ISD community and other special guests. This program emphasizes the care we all have for our students and the importance of keeping drunk drivers off of the roads.

The program begins with a mock car crash scene at 10:00 am outside at the HS campus, weather permitting. Please be present for this by 9:45 am. This event includes students being transported in an ambulance, a Stat Flight helicopter and a hearse.  The “drunk driver” will be handcuffed and taken away in a police car. This is a planned and staged event, and there is no actual emergency on the campus.

An assembly in the HS Gym follows the mock car crash event with a mock memorial service for those students portrayed as fatalities in the mock car crash. Motivating speeches by actual DWI victims and their parents will also be given.

Since 1989, statistics show that a drunk driver kills a person every 15 minutes.  Throughout the school day on May 2 , a high school student will be taken out of class every 15 minutes to represent this loss of life.

***This program is not appropriate for small children.
